Type Species: Tazoudasaurus naimi
Classification: Dinosauria - Saurischia - Sauropoda - Gravisauria - Vulcanodontidae
Time Period: Early Jurassic
Location: North Africa
Diet: Herbivore
Tazoudasaurus was discovered in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco in North Africa. Along with Ohmdenosaurus, it is one of the two known sauropods from the Early Jurassic (Toarcian Stage) of the northern hemisphere. Tazoudasaurus was a small sauropod, reaching only thirty-six feet in length, and it had a hybridization of features between prosauropods and sauropods. Teeth wear indicates that the sauropod chewed its food when feeding. The remains include a partial adult skeleton and a partial juvenile skeleton, indicating gregarious behavior that was commonplace among sauropods.
